Take These Things into Account When Choosing a Patio Bar Set

We bought a patio bar set for our backyard patio because the hubby and I started feeling guilty about sitting inside and entertaining guests when we had this gorgeous patio area to be in. The mission of carting drinks, glasses, chairs and tables outside each time we had friends over was just a bit too much for an already busy housewife like me.

I was dead against getting a plastic patio bar set since I had this awful image of my parent’s furniture set on their back veranda. I can remember a friend of ours nearly breaking his back when the chair snapped and then another time, when one of our over excited dogs flipped the table because it was so light and he was so big! If we were going to spend the money on some outdoor patio furniture then I wanted to get something that looked nice as well as a set that was going to last.

However we are from an area that is extremely humid and anything wooden just warps, rots and is a sitting duck for mold. Even sealed furniture seems to take strain. So the idea of wooden patio furniture was ruled out. Before you even open a catalog or go online to shop, think about your weather conditions and what type of furniture would actually be the best both in style and strength for your patio area.

So remember that mildew is right at home in humid conditions. Even accessories like patio chair cushion covers or table cloths can get ruined by the mold but at least you can throw then in the washing machine should the need arise. With furniture it is usually always outside and therefore should be carefully chosen to withstand harsh environmental conditions.

Careful maintenance with cleaning materials, covering the furniture and even storing the furniture will help it last longer but realistically do you have the time to do this?

Any furniture can be damaged by sun – even plastic can get weakened as well as fade. But, in terms of being resistant to a humid climate then plastic is definitely the way to go. Just make sure to select a brand that is made from strong plastic and not the cheapest variety. I was surprised at the variety on sale online.

When decorating this outdoor entertainment area with whatever type of furniture or accessories, always remember that it is part of your home. This is most likely an area where you will spend a lot of time in the summer months. Make sure it is going to be somewhere that you feel relaxed and content. But also remember that as much as you might like nice looking furniture, it might not always look so great because the weather will damage it quicker than if it were inside.

If you take weather as well as looks into consideration and are prepared to spend a bit more money than you planned, you will most likely find patio furniture that will last. Not only that but you will be able to relax and enjoy this space too.

My husband and I have never regretted spending a bit extra for our outdoor patio bar set. Entertaining outside is that much more fun and enjoyable.
