What Kind Of Furniture Will Work Best In Your Yard?

This is sometimes the question asked that helps you determine how to decorate or adorn your garden, backyard or lawn. If your home is situated in a wide expanse of real estate property or even if you have just enough open space in your front or backyard, then wouldn’t it be nice to add a bit more spice to make it more presentable or attractive, especially when that would make you want to spend a little more time lounging in your yard?

It may could cost you somewhere around a few hundred dollars to even thousand, however, the decision is yours, and there are a range of choices available for all different taste in furniture or theme you could reasonably think of.

But first things first, it is important to know which types of outdoor furniture you can choose from to not only make your backyard, garden or lawn look great, but one that will also help you make your selections on a more practical side and help you save dollars in the long run. The first thing you need to know about outdoor furniture is that it is designed and built to take a bit more wear and exposure compared to indoor or household furniture.

Wicker furniture is one of the most popular outdoor furniture materials on the market. It’s created from either woven pieces of a durable root-based vine called rattan or, more recently vinyl-coated plastic strands, as these materials are water resistant and weather-proof. Both the natural rattan and the plastic fake can be easily cleaned using standard soap and water (although this may take a bit of time and elbow grease), however, with some care, you can use a pressure washer, just be sure to use in a low setting, or you might find that the high pressure could be responsible for damaging the material orpeeling off any the varnish painted on to protect it from the elements.

An alternative type of patio or lawn furniture is that made of hard wood or water resistant wood. Styles can range from carved and intricate wooden designs for single chairs and often a table as a middle piece to a simple bench and table design for outdoor celebrations or gatherings. This wood outdoor furniture is usually painted with a heavyduty paint or varnish to stop water or moisture from creeping into the wooden fibers – causing damage over the years.

Teak and cedar wood are the recognized materials of choice when it comes to outdoor wooden furniture, usually because it can withstand winters and therefore be left outside all the year around. Other woods must be well protected from the elements, especially water, as water can seep into cracks in the wood, and when frozen can cause the wood to crack and become brittle. This leads to more maintenance, which most people would rather avoid.

Aluminum, stainless steel or wrought iron metal furinture are other popular choices. These are usually paired with molded plastic or possibly a wood-based accent that are usually a bit easier to maintain that furniture made of alternative materials such as rattan or wicker, and unlike wood, do not require painting or re-staining to keep it in good condition.

100% molded plastic has made its way in recent years onto the outdoor furniture market. At first this affordable furniture choice looked a bit cheap, but more sophisticated versions are now available proving that you don’t need to spend a fortune to make the most of your outdoor furniture budget. The range is constantly growing, and as little maintenance is required, this is becoming a more popular choice as time passes.

This will give you some ideas of the various options you have available to you when selecting your outdoor furniture. It really does come down to the basics like your available budget, and if you are able to maintain your furniture or if you just want something you can leave to the elements.
