How To Take Care Of Your Rose Tree Garden

Have you ever seen a rose tree garden? Garden owners delight in having rose trees in their garden. After a few years of working with “normal” rose bushes we decided to plant a rose tree.

My Aunt Ruby was the one who introduced us to rose trees. Her garden is something to marvel at. She not only had a variety of rose bushes, she had her own rose tree garden. She never had two of the same rose tree. Her garden was a wonderful place to meditate and unwind. Rose trees are basically a root stock grafted to a stem or standard and then grafted to a rose bush. The name of the “tree” is derived from the long standard. The average range of a rose tree is from 3 to 6 feet in height and since they are able do several grafts it isn’t uncommon to see a rose tree with multiple colors.

Now that you have selected the perfect tree for your rose tree garden you will need to prep the planting area.Always remember to properly prepare the soil. Spring is usually the best time to plant these rose bushes. The trunk has no shelter against the sun so it can easily get sun burns. Add in fertilized to the soil and prepare the ground the same way that is being done for other rose bushes. Also, you will need to have some stakes close by to ensure you rose tree doesn’t fall over. A stake is very crucial in determining the achievement growth of any rose tree.

Another crucial element in your bush’ survival is pruning. Your rose tree may gain a little more weight on one side due to growth. You will just need to remove a little bit from the heavy side to put the weight back on the center of the plant. If you forget, trust me on this, the weight will make the stock collapse under the uneven weight.

That can be devastating so you’ve got to be diligent at pruning. Always use a sharp pair of sheers or knife when you prune. Cutting above a node will ensure the rose tree’s growth.Winter doesn’t give any exceptions so you need to defend your rose tree. It is for this reason that you need to prune as much as doable.

Cover the trunk to protect it from the cold should you decide to leave it outside. What you will need to do is stake down some chicken wire in a cylinder shape around the trunk up to the bush. Fill this with mulch making sure you go all the way to the base of the bush. You shouldn’t see any part of the cane. This plant requires a bit more attention but the rewards waiting for you will make everything worth your efforts. It is a knockout among rose enthusiasts and is a scene stealer in any garden. Always do careful research and study so that the experience that you will get from caring for your rose tree garden will be breathtaking.
