Home Interior Design Tips For A Great Space

Piecing together a warm and inviting space from an empty room or from something you have lived with forever, can be an intimidating task. It is hard to change what you have always known and it is equally as hard to start from scratch, as there are so many possibilities. Check out these home interior design tips in order to create yourself a great space.

It’s important to figure out how much money you’re actually able to spend on a project before you even start to decorate. If you have a larger budget, you may be able to take down a wall, otherwise you might just have to settle with incorporating a few cost effective changes with the things you already have.

With a firm amount in place, it is time to find a theme or some inspiration in order to get started. You may find inspiration in a pillow, tapestry or old lamp you love, anything is possible. With an idea to start from, you will have an easier time shopping and selecting colors and textures.

The best way to turn a house into a home is to add a fresh coat of paint. You can warm up the walls with a neutral beige or you can go all out with a bold color which makes a statement. If the antique water pitcher is a mix of different shades of turquoise with rust around the edges, you may want to paint the walls a rust color to pick up that special aged affect.

Another way to save some cash, but remain trendy and artistic, is to re-purpose an old piece of furniture. If your old television cabinet won’t go with the new beach look, sand it and paint it. Add a dark base coat, then apply a coat of distressing paint and then a top layer of white or off white paint. The aging layer will cause the top layer to crack and the base coat will show through.

With the room coming together, it’s time to get a focal point up on the walls. If your focal point is your painting, but the wall is just too big for the size of the painting, try adding some molding to the frame to make it larger and then paint the old and new frame the same color. This will really draw the eye in and make the painting come to life.

The perfect space for you may be inspired from anything you see, not just an object you possess. You might transform your living room into a rustic cowboy hideaway by painting the walls brown and adding a cow hide rug to the floor. No matter what you decide to do with your room, these home interior design tips are sure to help.
