Outdoor Furniture Covers – The Most Affordable Way to Spice Up Your Patio

You’ve decided on the garden furniture that best suits your garden, studied up on how to maintain it and now you might be thinking that it needs some more protection in the form of patio furniture covers.

Firstly, you will need to consider how often is the furniture going to be used. The weight of the garden furniture is also a consideration. It might just come down to how easy the furniture is to move.

In the winter seasons do you have somewhere to keep your furniture out of the wet weather? Having your favorite (and expensive) garden chair covered with an outdoor furniture cover can guarantee that it won’t deteriorate while it is not being used. Covering your furniture also helps you avoid the tedious cleaning job you would have to do otherwise.

Outdoor furniture will require a different sort of outdoor furniture cover depending on what material the furniture is made from. Wicker furniture, as an example, usually requires something that can keep the moisture out.

When your wicker furniture does get a bit soaked make sure nobody sits on it again until it’s dry. Wicker bends easily when wet so they will probably become unsightly and unusable.

The climate for your area will also be a major contributing factor for any patio furniture covers you purchase. Getting a material that doesn’t trap heat is essential in hot sunny climes.

You want to be able to easily take it off and put it back on as well so make sure you get something that is light weight. A material such as polyester doesn’t trap heat in so it’s a good choice. It doesn’t weigh much and it’s also pretty good at keeping the moisture out.

Living in an area where snow or rain is a regular part of life requires heavier more durable material for your outdoor furniture cover. If you choose vinyl, which is heavy and durable, avoid the fleece lined covers as this can trap moisture which leads to a build up of mold and mildew. Heavy winds are also common in the colder climates so get something that hugs your furniture so it doesn’t get blown away in the next storm.

Even though plastic outdoor furniture is light weight and durable there are still advantages to getting some form of outdoor furniture cover for it. By covering your furniture from the sun you will help to keep it looking new and in it’s original color. Get something that is light weight and easily removed so it’s not an inconvenience to actually use the furniture.

Cotton would be a good choice as cotton handles heat well and is also a good insulator. A polyester cotton blend can stop the cover from wrinkling but it can get hot to the touch so weigh up the pros and cons before your final purchase.
