Cleaning Your Outside Furniture Table Properly: Several Useful Ideas

Your outdoor furniture table will preserve its elegance and last longer if its cleaned properly regularly. The method of cleaning will depend on what the table is made of. If you have chosen one of the very popular rattan tables you need to get the vacuum out and give it a good going over to remove all the loose dirt left behind at family meals.

Its important to get rid of all crumbs as those could attract mice and other rodents who may love to start chewing on the rattan. Use a very gentle laundry detergent to give it an once over wash but pick a sunny day so that it can dry quickly.

If you have an aluminum outdoor furniture table, you will need to be very careful not to use ammonia based products while cleaning. If it has a painted finish you can clean it using a solution of light soap and hot water. If its unpainted you may have to use a metal polishing paste to get the original shine back onto the table.

If you’ve any fabric accessories you could wash these by hand using a gentle laundry detergent. First read the care label as it might notify against drying in direct sun or in tumble dryer. If you could pick a slightly breezy day which will help with the drying process. If you find mold when you’re cleaning you could normally remove it using a diluted solution of bleach and warm water. But don’t use this solution on coloured fabrics as you could cause them to lose their color.

If you have a wooden outdoor furniture table, you could vacuum away the crumbs and then wipe it down with a little damp cloth. You may need to add a protective layer of varnish to prevent weather damage but its best to leave this to the professionals if you have never attempted this type of thing before.
